Dr. Jennifer Lawson

Dr. Jennifer Lawson is our newest Certified TESOL Instructor, joining our team in 2019. She teaches the 120 hour 2 week Intensive TESOL Course in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. She also teaches in the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Education. She is the author and originator of the Hands-On series, which includes resources for teachers of English Language Learners. Jennifer is a former classroom teacher, resource/inclusive education teacher, consultant, and principal. She also serves as a Trustee for the St. James-Assiniboia School Division in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Dr. Lawson is actively involved in the Mission to Mexico project, which supports education in communities around Puerto Vallarta.

Ms. Lee Rose
Accredited Online TESOL Course Instructor and
ESL/EAL Teacher

Ms. Lee Rose got her TESOL Certification in the first English 1 International TESOL course offered in Puerto Vallarta in 2015 and soon took a full-time job as a primary teacher in a local bilingual school. She already taught adults and after accumulating enough hours in the classroom teaching children, she qualified for her TESOL Instructor Certification. Lee now teaches the Accredited Online 9 week 120 Hour TESOL Certificate Course 6 times a year as well as continuing to teach full-time in the classroom “because she loves teaching kids too!”

Ms. Cynthia Leigh

Cynthia Leigh spent many years in Alberta, Canada before relocating a few years ago to the small community of Boca de Tomatlan, a half hour south of Puerto Vallarta, with her husband and son. She was instrumental in starting an ESL (English as a Second Language) program in the local public school when she realized the need and is also the Volunteer Coordinator for the Boca de Tomatlan Community Education Project. Boca relies heavily on the tourism industry for their livelihood and requires people to speak English, so she also works with adults. She became a Certified TESOL Instructor for the 120 hour Intensive 2 week TESOL Certificate Course in 2018. Students who take the Certified TESOL Program in Boca have an amazing experience in the jungle right next to the ocean!

Ms. Susan Gerle

Susan Gerle began teaching ESL/ EAL in Mexico in 1998.  She developed the TESOL Certificate Course curriculum starting in 2005 under the guidance of the Director of Curriculum, Dr. Katherine OReilly, a Professor of English and Education in Saskatchewan.  In 2012 she taught the first Certified TESOL Course in BC, Canada and in January 2015 she instructed the first Certified TESOL course in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Susan also co-authored “Ingles Facil,” a publication for Spanish speakers learning English for tourism. She works very closely with Community Education Projects in PV as well as sponsoring  ESL Beca students each year.  She also makes available a scholarship to a Mexican National in each TESOL course taught in Mexico.

Mr. Jon Mansell

Jon Mansell began his new career in 2012 when he became one of the first TESOL graduates of the English 1 International TESOL Certificate Course. He was already a trained elementary teacher. He was hired as the Head Teacher at an International school in BC, Canada, teaching teenagers and young adults and remained in the position for two years. When he  accumulated enough teaching hours with international students, he returned to take his TESOL Instructor Certification.  He continues to teach the TESOL Certificate Course in Mexico and BC, Canada when it doesn’t interfere with his travels!
